a simple way to make donuts
Equipment
- frying pan
- oil
- metal cooling rack used for cookies
Ingredients
- 1 bag Rhodes Texas Dinner Rolls or Dinner Rolls quantity of dounts depends on how many you want to make.
Instructions
- Defrost the dough anywhere from 2 to 3 hours depending on the surrounding temp.
- Dough should be soft to the touch, not cold and pliable.
- Gently pat the rolls to the size of a small donut. Use a donut hole cutter and cut out the center. Save the holes for frying too.
- Let the donuts rest and rise slightly for 20 mins. Do not allow the dough to rise too much as it will deflate. The rising will all depend on the temperature of the surrounding. The warmer the temp the faster it will rise.
- Place the frying pan in the back burner and heat the oil to 325°. This will prevent the pan from being bumped by passerby in the kitchen.
- When the oil is hot gently drop the dough in and fry on both sides till golden brown. Drain on a paper towel or on the rack.
- Top with your favorite chocolate topping, glaze, nuts, coconut flakes or cinnamon sugar. ENJOY!
